Enclave is a project with carver Tim Wraight, which documents the community of Otuwhero, an alternate universe of Marahau, New Zealand. Here, Marahau has become Otuwhero, “a republic where hard core environmentalist and free man ideologies are mixed with Eastern religions, new age spiritualism and multicultural influences*”. The artefacts of this civilisation are created by Pakeha Maori carver Tim Wraight, and the show at the Suter (August 2012) featured large portraits by Nina van der Voorn of important community members in their elected roles, wearing their designated carved amulets.
